What is a smart home?
A smart home is a home that is equipped with devices such as lighting, thermostats, door locks, etc. that can be controlled remotely with your smartphone or computer. Our Select SmartHome is powered by Alarm.com and offers many smart home features like interactive thermostats, appliance controllers, interactive services, and more. Home automation offers the convenience of controlling your devices remotely with your smartphone or computer. It can also allow for basic home functions and features to be controlled automatically. Our home automation options integrate directly into your Select SmartHome security system for seamless operation, and give you the ability to adjust your home from anywhere you have an internet connection.
What is a home risk assessment?
This is a complimentary service offered to new Select Security customers. The home risk assessment builds a safety profile of your home and is used to create your custom system. One of our sales professionals will work with you to evaluate any safety and security threats you may be facing in your home. Having a home risk assessment completed is extremely beneficial to you as a customer because you work directly with one of our sales professionals who has years of home security and life safety experience. What is a secure operation center?
Also referred to as a monitoring center or central station, our secure operation centers are where your security systems, cameras, and fire alarms will be professionally monitored. Fewer than 20% of all companies own and operate their own monitoring centers, and it’s even more rare to have multiple redundant ones like we do. Our network of four secure operation centers are located across the country, each with its own backup generators and system, and are networked to provide redundancy. Because they are each on a different utility grid, should a disaster happen in one region of the country, the other centers are still able to operate and take over service for the affected area. Our secure operation centers have earned UL certification, FM approval, and the industry’s highest honor for outstanding reliability and service, the 5-Diamond certification from the Central Station Alarm Association.
What is Select University?
Select University is Select Security’s own brand of training material and videos created for customer education. Select University is available to our customers through SelectSecurity.com or our mobile app and provides video tutorials on how to operate your system. New content is constantly being added, but if you can’t find the information you are looking for, we encourage you to reach out to our Customer Care Team who are cross-trained in various departments to answer majority of your questions.
