Lancaster County School District believes that providing a safe and secure environment for both students and staff is central to providing the best education possible. To assist in this effort to safely educate, Select Security provides fire and burglar alarm monitoring and service in 22 district facilities. According to Greg Collins, Coordinator of Capital Projects for the school district,

I have appreciated Select Security’s desire to meet and exceed the needs of the District throughout the selection and implementation process of the project.”

Fire struck the fire company and forced a remodeling and an upgrade to their fire system. Included among the new pull stations, monitored water flows, and smoke and heat detection devices, was a Plectron linked Voice Evacuation System. People pay more attention to a voice rather than a siren and a VES allows for this. It has the capability to play a recorded emergency message while allowing for a manual override to give customized announcements. Additionally, VES serves as a paging/intercom system. Given its’ multiple functions, Select Security expects more companies to use VES in the future.

Providing a fire and security system for an aged and partitioned building with protected historical sections posed a big challenge. Select Security enjoyed the challenge and is happy to protect one of its’ downtown Lancaster neighbors.

LCPD built a new police station in 2002 and Select was grateful to be chosen to install both a fire and burglar alarm system as well as a video surveillance system. The highlight of the project was upgrading and redesigning the surveillance systems in six interview/interrogation rooms. To improve efficiency, each high quality DVR was mapped to the recorders desktop for easy access and quick record, and all are capable of being viewed locally or remotely within the confines of the police department. Additionally, each system was configured with two custom installed latching key switches, one to control audio recording and another to control video simultaneously and/or independently.

Select Security has been protecting Lycoming County Historical Society since 1986. In 1987, a fire broke out that could have destroyed a history’s worth of artifacts but luckily the quick response call saved Lycoming County Historical Society and all of their historical artifacts.

Just a stone’s throw from our Williamsport Branch, we installed and maintain all fire systems for the entire Lycoming College campus. As an extra convenience and additional level of security, we installed an intelligent network which provides on-call security officers immediate notification of all alarm activations.
